Los Angeles Center for Photography Workshop December 1-3, 2017

Traveling with Passion and Purpose

August 20 Thursday evening presentation and book signing open to the public

Learn how to make more memorable travel images, become more comfortable approaching and photographing people, and feel more confident navigating unfamiliar cultures. Enrich your travel experiences by connecting with others through your camera and use it as a key into exploring others people lives. Join me in this unique travel workshop as we spend the weekend with students photographing the up-and-coming culturally hip area of Korea Town in Los Angeles. On Thursday evening, August 20, I will give a public presentation of my photographs, “Face to Face: Portraits of the Human Spirit.” (This evening is strongly recommended for all workshop participants.)

On Saturday, after a Friday evening group discussion and review, I will discuss how to create a sense of place to include detail shots, food, people and environment. The afternoon will be spent photographing in Korea Town to include the people, markets, food, bar scene, sporting events and any possible cultural festivities. Participants will capture the late afternoon/ evening light and then meet as a group for a real Korean barbeque dinner. The workshop continues on Sunday morning in Korea Town, photographing the neighborhood markets and lifestyle. After lunch, the class will reconvene at LACP, spending the rest of the afternoon editing photographs putting together a strong travel story that will be presented as a group at the day’s end. Participants are asked to bring 5-10 images that best represent their work on Friday evening. These images will be reviewed and discussed as a group. Weekend-intensive (three-session) workshop Dates: Friday, August 21, 7-9 pm + Saturday and Sunday, August 22-23, 10 am – 6 pm (Please note exact meeting times may vary.) – See more at: http://www.ssreg.com/juliadean/classes/classes.asp?courseid=30269&catid=2931
