Following in the wake of the sea gypsy’s long tail boats, kayaking is the best way to explore the exotic islands of Taratou, off Thailand’s southwestern coast in the Andaman Sea. Sailing from Bali to Papua New Guinea I discovered some of Indonesia’s most remote and pristine islands. I found small worlds with strange customs, bizarre animals and ways of life hardly changed by civilization.
